Chapter 655: Grade – Ten Lightning Dragon (Part 2)

The lightning dragon on the ground squirmed in excruciating pain. This lightning dragon was around thirty yards in length, its eyes spewed electric current continuously. The dark silver patterns on the surface of its body were also releasing bolts of lightning to the surroundings.
Currently, Nailisi took on the form of an imp. After swallowing the devil’s remains, her body underwent some changes, it had become stronger and her figure was smoother. At the moment, those green magic patterns on the surface of Nailisi’s body were also releasing electric currents, but these currents had a pale green hue.
The lightning dragon on the ground twitched as it saw a demon rushing over. In its remaining bit of consciousness was a hint of fear, because the demon’s body also contained electricity.
Any passerby would not have been able to harm the lightning dragon. Due to its owner being killed, the lightning dragon’s soul was severely damaged. It could not move. The electric currents which were released naturally enabled the lightning dragon to protect itself, but Nailisi was not afraid of electricity. She simply jumped atop the dragon’s back and trampled its colossal head. Nailisi’s tail slithered into the lightning dragon’s orbitals.
The tail of a demon was akin to another arm, it was very strong and sensitive. Across all planes, only the nose of a war elephant could rival the tail of a demon. Powerful demons could even use their tail to wield various weapons, their tails were extremely flexible.
The end of Nailisi’s tail entered the lightning dragon’s brain, extracting its magic nucleus.
Finishing this task, Nailisi’s body trembled, then she took out a Dimension Stone, wanting to collect the lightning dragon’s body. She had consumed most of her physical strength when resisting the electric currents released by the lightning dragon, her mental strength was dwindling. She failed to store the entire lightning dragon in the Dimension Stone.
The two grade-8 sorcerers from the inquisition rushed over. Holding the level-9 magic scrolls in hand, Fellett and his wife yelled, “Leave now!”
When the black-robed sorcerers noticed the level-9 scrolls in the couple’s hands, they grew hesitant. “The enemy actually possessed so many level-9 scrolls, they have exceeded our expectations. Our boss is killed, so there is no need to risk our lives for the pope. The problem is, with our boss dead, the head inquisitors will be enraged...”
One of the sorcerers opened his mouth to speak, “Don’t get the wrong idea... we, we have to fight, otherwise...”
Fellett and his wife yearned to use the scrolls to kill the two fellows. The two black-robed sorcerers clearly did not want to fight, they wanted to escape. Fellett bore much hatred for mages who defected to the Holy See and he wanted to kill them. His skills had to be conserved however. The enemy still had over seventy-thousand troops and there was still the Red Bishops and high-ranking priests around.
With an arch of her brows, Lanny hollered, “If you don’t leave now, then you won’t have to leave anymore!” Speaking, she acted like she was going to release the scrolls.
A level-9 magic scroll might not be able to kill a grade-8 sorcerer, but after releasing a scroll, these two grade-8 sorcerers would definitely be at a disadvantage. They would not be able to withstand the couple’s attacks.
“We will leave now, we will leave now!” The two men glanced at one another, then turned and flew away. Fellett and his wife did not give chase. As the Holy See’s soldiers surrounded them, Lanny took out a level-8 magic scroll and released a ring of fire.
Using Lanny as the center point, a gigantic ring of fire expanded outwards. There were many ripples as though a huge rock had been tossed into a serene lake. This was not a low level defensive spell like the Fire Ring of Resistance. When this enormous fire ring expanded to its limit, its diameter had exceeded one-hundred yards. This was no area spell.
The person closest to the ring of fire was Nailisi, but she was not affected by it. The flames brushed past her body, creeping towards the expeditionary army.
Fellett hesitated for a moment, then told Nailisi, “If you want to bring this thing back, lend me your bangle.”
At the moment, Nailisi was in her demonic form, so Fellett felt uneasy. Fortunately, Nailisi’s face was no different from a human, there was only an additional pair of dark silver horns on her head.
“Here, Uncle Fellett.” Nailisi’s voice did not change, she removed the bangle and gave it to Fellett.
Fellett deftly stored the thirty yard long lightning dragon in the bangle, this bangle was a gift from him to his own son. Aini had sold it to Saleen to raise funds to purchase the dead soul flame. Fellett faced no difficulty in using this bangle to store items.
After collecting the dragon, Fellett returned the bangle to Nailisi. Nailisi took a deep breath, this was the first time her mental strength was so severely depleted. When the lightning dragon was not moving, she went ahead to extract the magic nucleus, consuming almost all of her energy. Saleen’s mental strength was also greatly depleted, so she could not tap into Saleen’s power.
Feeling the same level of exhaustion in her physical body, Nailisi forced her wings to flap. At this point in time, there was a team of heavy cavalrymen protecting a war chariot, they were charging over from afar.
When Saleen noticed that the red-robed old man had personally joined the battle to kill Nailisi, he grew very anxious. He immediately saw that Lanny had taken out a carpet. Lanny and Fellett carried the exhausted Nailisi onto it, then the carpet soared into the air. That carpet was not even two yards long, but it traveled very quickly, causing the three people to shake on top of it.
“Cuisi, go and get Nailisi!” Saleen mustered all his strength and shouted.
“Yes, Sir.” At this moment, Cuisi also revealed his original form, it was a supreme demon who was about eight yards tall. He was not naked, he was clad in magic armor crafted by Joey. The weapon in hand was that sixteen yard long whip.
Saleen stretched his head out from behind Sika’s back, he could observe all the events taking place at the foot of the city. Seeing that Cuisi was charging forward, he heaved a sigh of relief in his heart. “Since that lightning dragon and its body have been collected, I can let the lightning dragons in the necklace devour it. This time around, I have made a killing.”
It was purely based on luck. If Saleen had not run into the offspring of a lightning dragon here and thus let Nailisi possess the ability of the Lightning Guardian, he would be helpless even if that lightning dragon’s soul was greatly damaged. A fallen lightning dragon who could not retaliate could still release electricity naturally, Saleen would not be able to get close to it.
Only Nailisi, whose body could withstand a certain amount of electric attacks, could extract the lightning dragon’s magic nucleus so decisively. If other people were in her shoes, they would have been electrocuted to death within ten yards of the lightning dragon.
The lightning dragon’s attack was blocked by Saleen’s badge and Saleen did not plan for this. He thought that he was going to die. When that thick bolt of lightning came, his reaction was slower than the lightning. If Saleen did not raise his badge earlier, everyone standing behind him would have been wiped out.
‘A good mage was made up of ninety-nine percent effort and one percent luck.’ Saleen recalled Eleanor’s words and there was another sentence added at the back; ‘without that one percent luck, one would only be an average mage’.
“The site which I chose to build this city allowed me to run into the rarely seen lightning dragon and I obtained a huge number of lightning dragon eggs which eventually hatched. All these events were based on luck. No matter how powerful I am, all this would also not take place if the lightning dragon didn’t lay its eggs here. This event cannot be controlled. No matter how powerful Fycro and Joey are, they cannot predict these happenings. If I died, the calculations made by Fycro and Joey would be made implausible already. This lightning dragon is definitely not a grade-9 creature, it is a grade-10 being.” Seeing Fellett help Nailisi collect the lightning dragon’s remains, Saleen knew that his twenty-four mini lightning dragons would stand a chance of advancing already.
Lanny’s carpet flew back to the city entrance in a wobbly manner. Archbishop Nicholas’ chariot did not catch up. It actually stopped at a location five-hundred yards from the city walls. Nicholas gazed at Metatrin City in a daze.
The five-thousand wardens had left with the two black-robed mages and Nicholas’ remaining troops would not be able to conquer this city. Looking at the experts in both camps, Nicholas had twenty Red Bishops and one archbishop, while the enemy had a supreme demon and at least two grade-8 mages.
These two grade-8 mages possessed two level-9 magic scrolls. The enemy’s capabilities had not been fully unleashed, yet that Golden Grand Swordmaster had died in vain. It would not be difficult to predict the outcome of the following battles.
“The enemy can kill a Golden Grand Swordmaster in a second. Even if I lead the troops personally, the outcome will be similar...”
Nicholas did not know that Saleen only had the power to strike once. Since both of Saleen’s techniques were used up, Nicholas actually stood a chance if he forced his way into the city. Be that as it may, the feeling of being disheartened and despaired overwhelmed Archbishop Nicholas’ mind. He felt too discouraged to fight on.
He had rode in the chariot personally in hopes of using a holy equipment and level-9 divine scrolls to kill the two sorcerers. The enemy had used a flying equipment to return to the city, dashing all hopes of raising the morale of the army.
“The city entrance is narrow. If I force my way up and run into the supreme demon, my life will be at risk. A supreme demon is a creature who swallows souls. If I die in the hands of one, my soul will not be able to enter heaven. Luckily I have used a divine spell to record all these events. Hopefully, when I return, the pope will spare my life because of the crucial intelligence which I have collected.”
Archbishop Nicholas traveled to Metatrin eagerly, but now, he was going to return in dejection. He stared at the city entrance in indignation, then he noticed an eight yard tall supreme demon emerging and killing the soldiers who were scaling the city entrance.
Cuisi waved his whip about as Nailisi had been rescued. Of course, Cuisi would not remain outside like a fool, that red-robed old man in the chariot struck fear in him. The scepter in that old man’s hands contained the power of a god. That was a genuine god, it was not some devil from the demonic plane.
Cuisi might not even survive one hit from a devil, not to mention a godly blow from that scepter.
Saleen was perched on Sika’s back, looking at Archbishop Nicholas. Both men were five-hundred yards apart and Saleen believed that Archbishop Nicholas could surveil all the events occurring on the city entrance. The offensive by the Holy See’s army did not stop, it actually intensified.
Archbishop Nicholas had decided to let the expeditionary army cause as much damage to Metatrin City as it could. Situated below the city, he did not plan to take any action, he and the twenty Red Bishops simply observed Saleen and company. The moment the experts beside Saleen split up to defend the city walls, Nicholas would then take action.
If Saleen chose to spectate the battle and surveil him, then he would wait until the battle was over.
“There are so many heretics here, the pope will surely deploy more people to come forth. The next time, Metatrin City wouldn’t be so lucky.”
Saleen did not care, it was no longer important as to whether that red-robed elderly could be killed or not. “I have killed a Golden Grand Swordmaster and that should be enough to cause the Holy See to be on maximum alert. The next time? If the Holy See wants to gather more manpower the next time around, it would also have to wait for at least one and a half years. Whether or not the Holy See can launch another offensive against Metatrin City within a year will depend on the war in Loulan. If Holy Rock City’s army prevails, the Holy See will not have the power to launch another attack against me. In another one and a half years, the mages from Sregl Island will arrive and I will have nothing to fear anymore.”.
