Chapter 272: Electric Stone (Part 1)

Processing magic equipment and writing scrolls had the same problem, they both had a high possibility of failure. The higher grade the magic equipment, the easier it was to fail. When Saleen was reprocessing the witcher spider he had actually failed because the magic patterns had damaged it.

The secretions from the lightning dragon were a main ingredient for the solidifying stabilizing medicine. Humans could no longer capture lightning dragons, so such medicine was incredibly valuable.

It was a necessary ingredient when it came to processing holy weapons or half-god weapons, and to ensure that a holy weapon could be processed successfully, a mage would pay any price.

Equipment was different from scrolls; scrolls were a one-time item and even if they were written incorrectly the loss to a mage was not that great. At least in the writing process a mage would be practicing storing magic in the scroll. No matter whether it succeeded or failed the mage would be able to gain valuable experience.

Although Saleen was agitated, he was not crazy enough to go scrape off the secretions on the wall right now. He could only do so when the lightning dragon had been killed. This cave was incredibly deep in the ocean, a normal swordsman or mage would not be able to find it. Saleen was not worried that it would be taken away by others, this coast belonged to him now. Even though the mages from Sregl Island were tempted, they remembered Jason’s warning: “Saleen makes the decisions.”

Of course, Saleen would not mistreat these mages. This solidifying stabilizing medicine was of much use to him now. He needed to lay down magic arrays while he was building the city. He had to build another thirty-six magic towers too. During the building of these magic towers he needed to use something similar to a magic medicine. Saleen knew clearly that at the end of the day most of the magic towers in the city would be defended by the mages of Sregl Island.

Jason could not control everything either. The most important thing in the remains within the interdimensional space was the six-element space. The world that Raphael had created was very much worth researching, and the six-element space could speed up a sorcerer’s advancement too.

As of now, Saleen did not feel it was anything wrong. Lex could not control everything within the interdimensional space. Without Jason’s help she would not even be able to open the passageway to the interdimensional space to build a teleportation array.

Instead of finding someone else for help, why not let Jason do it? After all, Jason had not taken away Lex’s portion on Saleen’s account.

Saleen waited patiently, but the lightning dragon was not quick. It was slower than most magic beasts on land. Saleen let it go further away before he had the courage to re-enter the cave. The first time was an accident. This time, he was after the lightning dragon’s eggs.

As time passed slowly, Saleen became sure that the lightning dragon was gone. He stepped into the teleportation array, but made Nailisi stay in the ship. He did not want Nailisi to destroy the lightning dragon’s eggs. Handling the eggs required a special touch and one could not just take them away as they were.

Saleen was a mage, so he would not make such low-grade mistakes. If not, he would not have left so hurriedly the last time and would have taken the magic eggs back with him.

He used the teleportation array to enter the deep sea. Saleen had already gotten used to the pressure this time and the ice plate armor was effective at reducing it.

As he swam towards the lightning dragon’s nest he was unusually nervous. He held onto his clan badge tightly; he would not be defenseless like before once the lightning dragon appeared.

It was almost a hundred meters from the cave entrance to its interior. Saleen now knew how precious the silver substance was but he did not have the time to collect it. He hurriedly went through the tunnel to the eggs.

The red lightning dragon eggs had a purple pattern on their surface in the water. Saleen reached out to feel the black stones that were surrounding the lightning dragon eggs. He wondered if he should use the holy text that had a life force to it or directly drip blood on the lightning dragon eggs to leave a mark.

The magic beast’s eggs needed to breathe too and they could not be stored within the spatial equipment. The spatial equipment was similar to a special interdimensional space that was a vacuum. Any living creature placed inside would not last long, similar to how a fish out of water would die from suffocation.

Any living creature without magic abilities would have their blood boiled if they were placed in the spatial equipment. These magic eggs would not be able to be handled by other people’s hands, luckily Saleen’s Ring of Gifts had the holy texts with life force in them and could hold life.

“Master, do not move.” the winged skeleton’s voice sounded in Saleen’s head. This shocked him in his nervous state, after all he was stealing the eggs of a grade-8 magic beast. The lifespan of a grade-8 creature was almost the same as a grade-9 one and their attacking powers were similar too. Saleen was a thief in its lair, one could only imagine his nervousness.

The winged skeleton’s voice was incredibly cold. Saleen knew that was because its memories of Daniel had not disappeared.

“Why not?” Saleen asked in his head, as his hands stopped.

“You need to keep the black stones together too. If not, the lightning dragon’s eggs will die,” the winged skeleton replied.

“How do you know?” Saleen did not mention how strange it was. This winged skeleton was a creature that Daniel had summoned from the death dimension. Could it still have memories of its past?

“Master, I once swallowed the soul of a human mage. That is why I am self-conscious now. From the memories that I have, there is something about these stones. They are electric stones also known as tourmaline on the Myers Mainland. The lightning dragon’s eggs do not have any magic nuclei. To let it continuously absorb electricity it cannot leave these stones.”

“Tourmaline?” Saleen echoed the gemstone’s name in his head.

Tourmaline was a special stone, many mages used it to create equipment that could bring a dying man back to life. Even if the victim’s heart had stopped beating, tourmaline could revive them. Within the lightning dragon’s nest he had not realized that these gemstones were hiding inside the stones. He had overlooked a fundamental problem.

Magic beasts’ eggs already had life to them and if they had life, they must have other natural properties.

Tourmaline was inside the black stones and there had to be dozens of tons of them there. If Saleen wanted to take all of them away, he would need to spend a long time cutting them up.

No wonder the lightning dragon chose this place as its nest. There was a giant pile of natural electric stones here.

“Electric stones… could they hold the power of electricity within them?” Saleen thought to himself. If that was the case and he created the special magic equipment in the future, he would need to inlay such gemstones.

Saleen tapped the calabash by his waist and a six-meter-long current rushed out. With it under Saleen’s control he started cutting up the black stones. Knowing that there was tourmaline within, he was much more careful and tried his best to cut the stone from the outside.

The patch of black stones formed a circle on the ground, but he found they were all joined underground. Saleen dug deeper, all the way until six meters deep before the black stones could be cut.

Saleen could not keep such a large stone even if he wanted to. He could only split it into four parts each over a meter long. He placed the piece that had the lightning dragon’s eggs on it into the Ring of Gifts and the remaining three pieces into the Demon’s Ring.

Saleen was a grade-4 mage and did not have the ability to open normal spatial equipment. These two rings did not have any grade restrictions on the mage, but the space was relatively smaller.

Just like Lex’s God’s Ring it could store practically a countless amount of items. Saleen had not seen Lex troubled due to a lack of space. On the other hand, he frequently met with such problems. If Nailisi was not with him his two rings would not be enough.

Nailisi waited impatiently on the Pan’s Turtle alchemical boat. Saleen had been gone for too long. He was just taking the magic beasts’ eggs, could he be in danger? She had no feeling of Saleen getting hurt from deep within her soul and Saleen had let her man the teleportation array, so she did not dare leave it.

In actuality, she was even more anxious than Saleen. These mages had looked at the alchemical boat just like how she looked at the magic beasts’ eggs. Nailisi was thinking from a demon’s perspective and did not find these mages trustworthy.

Saleen wanted to quickly return to the alchemical boat too. It took time to cut the stones into suitable sizes to be placed within the ring. The use of the spatial equipment was limited. How big an object one could fit within it depended on their abilities.

If not, a normal person would be able to wave a mountain away just by wearing the God’s Ring. This was something from folklore. Real spatial equipment would need to use up focus, similar to releasing a scroll.

If one forcefully took something too big it would cause the user’s focus to deplete and turn them into an idiot. No mage would do something so stupid.

Getting the tourmaline satisfied Saleen. He had heard that in other dimensions this was known as an electric stone. He thought about it and decided that if they were useful to his training he could buy them when they were cheap on the market. As for the one that he had cut off, he could use it as part of the materials in building the magic towers.

In the future, his magic towers would need large number of tourmaline gems. As long as this thing could hold electric power, Saleen had decided to spend a fortune on it. He felt he would become a grade-6 mage soon. If he bought them, it would be later. Buying such a large number of the same material would cause its prices to skyrocket.

The price of tourmaline was moderate now because there were other gemstones that could replace it. Once a sole property could only be found in a specific gemstone, even if the gemstone was everywhere, its prices would be pushed to insane heights.

“Soldier, why did you suddenly talk to me?” Saleen asked the winged skeleton as he processed the tourmaline.

“I would need to speak sooner or later.” The winged skeleton’s voice was incredibly cold and bitter. Saleen wanted to soothe it but he could not do so since the winged skeleton had been traded over from Daniel. Without his contract, Daniel could not give up the winged skeleton.

Saleen sighed internally before he spoke to the winged skeleton, “Do what pleases you, I won’t interfere.”

“You are my master, I will listen to you from now on.” The winged skeleton was not touched by Saleen’s words. He was obviously still hung up on Daniel leaving him behind.
