Chapter 1351: Evil Oracle (Part 2)
Rafel’s miscalculations ended up with her being duped by the abomination and the monster thrown to Saleen’s side. Although that frightened her immensely, she quickly saw the abomination’s head being blown up by a finger pointed at it.
The Lightning Territory quickly wrapped around the abomination’s body, purifying it in an instant and leaving behind a golden granule about the size of a fist.
Rafel regained her composure. She had been duped by the powerful innate skill of the equipment. Such a thing could only happen once with a combat angel, and she definitely would not make the same mistake next time.
She picked up the claw hammer and handed it to Saleen, saying, “This is at least level-14 equipment.”
Nailisi had been cut by the abomination’s blade. Her Gray Memory, however, ended up hitting the enemy before she was cut. The abomination was quickly sucked dry by the six eyes on the weapon. The blade, on the other hand, ended up shattering Nailisi’s armor but left her unharmed.
The effect of her attack would not have been so intense had the abomination not been pierced by the Gray Memory. The six eyes on the spear seemed to like the powers of the Heretic God very much, seeing how they were absorbed in a frenzy as soon as an abomination was hit.
Nailisi transformed into her imp form as soon as her armor was shattered, enabling her to evade the blade’s attack. She then took the abomination’s blade and threw it into the purgatory of purification.
The Winged Skull handled things in an even cleaner manner. The Reaper Moon shot from the Reaper Scythe accurately bisected that level-11 abomination, its soul absorbed into the weapon. The monster could not have been deader than that.
The abominations, in fact, had powerful deception techniques, but both Nailisi and the Winged Skull shared a link at the soul with Saleen. They knew Saleen’s state very well; it was impossible for any tricks aimed at shaking their minds to work at all.
All three level-11 abominations were quickly dealt with, leaving all abominations in the hall dumbfounded.
As Saleen’s Lightning Territory covered the huge vortex, he summoned the weapon spirit from the Lightning Constellation. The weapon spirit had consumed Dante the Big Guy yet was controlled again by Saleen. Its powers were over 100 times stronger than the previous weapon spirit.
Saleen kept calling the new weapon spirit Dante and issued him an order, “Dante, clean up the vortex for me.”
Dante couldn’t do anything else, being completely under Saleen’s control. It had no alternative but to accept its fate. Weapon spirits were different from other living beings.
They didn’t resist the master of the equipment they were housed in. It was only when they saw a chance to escape to freedom that they would revolt. At present, Dante was unable to free itself from Saleen’s control, so it had no choice but to accept its fate.
Dante took control of the Lightning Constellation and eight Armoring Lightning Beads, unleashing lightning powers at the vortex in a frenzy. Countless huge golden granules shot out of the vortex in a frenzy. The speed at purifying the vortex was considerably greater than Saleen’s.
“Let’s get to work. There are too many abominations here in the hall!”
Saleen said this as he took out his family badge and aimed it at the abomination army. There was a reason why he did this: His family badge was capable of absorbing energy in any form. He would have only needed to absorb another vortex after he used up the energy inside the badge.
Over 100 vortexes were in the underground city, so Saleen wasn’t afraid of not being able to get to another vortex.
A thick lightning bolt shot from the badge. A passageway over 1000 meters long and a dozen meters wide was right in front of Saleen. All abominations in it were obliterated by the lightning bolt, leaving behind an area filled with golden granules.
Saleen sighed. It’s too bad his family badge couldn’t be used continuously: at this rate, he could have killed all the abominations in the underground city many times over.
Watching Saleen’s attack rendered Rafel speechless. She was incapable of resisting the power of equipment that ferocious unless she used her own holy item—the Inferno Spear. But if that spear were struck by the lightning bolt, it would be put out of commission. Only the gods would be able to repair it.
The Winged Skull took out the huge meteor hammer again and charged into the abomination army, leaving it totally in shambles. Only level-11 abominations possessed true intelligence; the lower-level ones had to take commands from the higher-level ones in order to fight in formations.
With their leader dead and with level-10 abominations being totally inadequate for commanding the forces, none of the hundreds of abominations around Saleen’s party could put up much of a fight.
If someone at the Winged Skull’s level wielded a weapon like the meteor hammer, numbers were utterly meaningless before them. Furthermore, the abominations that Saleen had shot dead were basically the elites in the hall.
Ojarvis, who had been watching from the magic cube, chuckled. He wanted to laugh but was afraid that doing so would rupture his internal organs; instead, he had to hold himself back.
“My sister, your man is one hell of a fighter indeed. Look...”
Lex knew that this guy had his own ideas when she saw him refusing to return to the Floating City right away, but she clueless about what those ideas were. According to evaluations of the magic cube, Rafel’s combat capacity was rated at level-12 red, meaning her powers were equal to level-13.
The rules on Myers Mainland were loose, and a level-12 was the safest. Using level-13 powers would have ended up with the user being punished by the plane rules at times.
That woman was really good at suppressing her powers. It was so intricately done that even the plane rules wouldn’t have noticed the presence of a level-13 being.
“Ojarvis, what if things go south?” Despite seeing one powerful abomination after another get killed, she was in no mood to celebrate. The magic cube was not ready yet, and if the abominations attacked prematurely, the large-scale puppet might not be able to hold them off. Lex also worried that the Heretic God would get angry and send in more powerful monsters.
“Lex, if everything had gone as planned, I wouldn’t have ended up getting stuck here. See there, even uncle can’t leave now, and he’s clearly pissed about being stuck behind the door. The million-strong army is gathering outside, but they still can’t get it.”
Lex took a closer look and thought her brother was right. Safilos’s expression suggested that he was fuming. He stood alone where he was, his long blade brimming with a purple aura.
The army he commanded was outside the city. Most of the ones in the city had ended up dying, and only a handful was able to get into the underground city. Safilos was now all alone.
The people of the Presbyterian Council had all been moved out. None of the nobles’ guardians were mobilized to do battle there.
Those damned nobles! Do they really think the end of Holy Rock City is near?
Even though he wasn’t a mage, Prince Safilos possessed a lot of skills, many of which were geared for combat. Being surrounded by warriors provided him with great power that allowed his combat prowess to skyrocket.
Furthermore, the greater the casualties on the battlefield, the greater the power of his siphoning blade. Others would get tired after fighting for prolonged periods; with Safilos, it was just the opposite: he became more ferocious.
But now his armies weren’t with him, and the royal swordsmen were not under his command, much less the mages: All four had died in the fighting outside the door, but he didn’t yet know that this was actually the Winged Skull’s doing.
Lex didn’t say much. That brother of hers had a strong mind of his own. It was impossible for her to sway him, so she just let him be. If something were to happen to Saleen, she would only have to venture outside to save him. If she wore the God’s Ring, a fast escape would be no problem at all.
Those thoughts were running through Lex’s mind when the black vortex suddenly expanded. All of a sudden an abomination resembling a human youth emerged from the center of the vortex. Clutching a curved dagger, it charged at Saleen.
Alarms were heard in the magic cube as soon as that abomination, an assassin, emerged. It was identified as a level-13 red in the magic cube’s projections.
This assassin appeared right behind Saleen in an instant and raised the dagger above his back. That weapon, gray and filled with holy prose, seemed to be coarse, like an unpolished bone blade.
Seeing this Rafel quickly thrust her spear at the abomination’s back. Without turning its head around, the abomination raised its right leg and kicked Rafel’s spear high in the air, making a whoosh right above its head.
Rafel’s retaliated with an energy attack thrust, but that abomination was able to throw the entire spear upward, shocking Rafel. She discovered that even if she were to undo her seal, she would not have been able to take on that abomination!
Is Saleen going to die?
The magic amplifier shimmered into existence behind Saleen before Rafel’s thoughts turned. The assassin’s dagger had pierced the black ring that formed the magic amplifier.
Eight-ball lightning bolts spun at great speed with the black ring. The assassin started shouting while pulling its hands back. But it was too late. One of its arms was melted by a flash of eight-ball lightning. The dagger was purified into something that looked golden and transparent.
The Thunder Dragon Blaster materialized on Saleen’s left arm. Seven lightning icicles fired. Despite its grievous injuries, the abomination’s reflexes were still intact. Slithering like a snake, it contorted its body into six different angles, intending to evade the lightning icicles.
Saleen’s lightning icicles, however, were unable to target the assassin in the first place. He was too anxious. Locking onto a level-13 abomination proved extremely difficult.
But then again, Saleen didn’t need targeting at all. Four-ball lightning bolts appeared between the icicles shot and penetrated that abomination’s body.
Though its body was already disintegrating, the abomination kept struggling. The power of ball lightning was something it would not have been able to resist. The abomination shrieked as its body broke down into golden granules.
Saleen looked troubled. He’d nearly been done in. If he hadn’t acquired new secret arts allowing him to control his magic amplifier, not even his Figure of Fate would have been able to save him from that the dagger.
That dagger was clearly and entirely made out of the Heretic God’s bone. It had taken eight of Saleen’s most powerful lightning balls to purify the weapon. Its powers spiked over 20 times while it was stuck in the magic amplifier.
Saleen kept his calm despite almost getting stabbed by the assassin. Moving quickly, he came to Rafel’s side within a split second and summoned four-star figures.
Despite all four still being in a sealed state, they were nonetheless very, very resistant to damage. If another level-13 were to appear, Saleen would at least be able to avoid another close call.
Rafel waved and took the dagger the abomination had dropped and put it in Saleen’s hand. The dagger, a golden color throughout, was already free of any evil aura. Lightning magic patterns appeared within its translucent blade.
Good stuff indeed. Saleen was comforted somewhat to find that among the secret arts he acquired, there were actually weapon-crafting skills that mages could have used. However, one of those skills had a ridiculously high requirement in terms of materials for it to work. So would this translucent golden dagger prove adequate?
