Awakening: Reincarnating With the SSS-Level Extraction Talent
Chapter 398 - 398: The Target List, Ready for War“Here’s the list,” Alex said, voice steady and expression unreadable, as if he weren’t asking an entire race to initiate multiple wars at once.
His tone didn’t carry even the slightest hint of hesitation.
No weight, no guilt.
Just calm certainty, as if this was nothing more than routine.
With a quiet snap of his fingers, a glowing panel appeared in front of both the Angel King and the Angel Commander.
A list of names hovered in the air, floating gently before them, the golden letters shimmering with a faint trace of divine magic.
“These,” Alex added plainly, “are roughly the races I consider the most annoying.”
[Target List:]
Alex’s eyes moved to the panel, quickly reading through it again to confirm every name was there.
[Elves: mainly Dark Elves, but some of the main ones are annoying too.]
[Ogres: goblins will fall the moment these fall, they are brutes.]
[Demons: self-explanatory, one of the most annoying races, and some of them are insanely strong, although they have several cities and are all aligned with the gods, I would prefer if you completely annihilated them.]
[Minotaurs: depends on which ones, but just make sure they don’t do anything crazy, watch out though, some of them are insanely strong, I’ve met one.]
[Giants: I don’t know, just, kill their chief and they’re gonna get scared or something.]
[Beastmen: They are weak and probably won’t retaliate, but are many in numbers.]
“This is the list,” he repeated, still maintaining that same flat, emotionless tone, “Look at it and tell me if it’s possible.”
Volks, the Angel King, studied the panel with furrowed brows.
Beside him, the commander of the angel army crossed his arms, his glowing eyes narrowing slightly as he processed the targets one by one.
There was a heavy silence for a moment, but not from uncertainty.
It was the silence of evaluation, strategy, calculation.
It was a long list, Alex knew that well enough.
But this was the most efficient route.
If these races were handled swiftly, whether through force, diplomacy, or fear, then the remaining ones would naturally fall in line.
After all, who would dare resist once their neighbors were already burning? The fact even the angels got scared from [Dragon City] being gone was proof.
Elves were always trouble.
Intelligent, graceful, and calculating, they possessed an ancient arrogance that never seemed to die out.
The Dark Elves were the worst of the bunch, though Alex still marked the regular ones too.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Ogres, goblins, minotaurs, and giants all functioned on the same primitive rule, strength determined leadership.
Their societies were built around dominance.
If the strongest among them fell, their loyalty would shift instantly to whoever killed them.
Alex could’ve done it himself, but it was better this way.
Let the angels handle the mess.
He had bigger things to prepare for.
The beastmen were scattered and less threatening individually, but their sheer numbers and hidden settlements made them unpredictable.
It would be a pain if they decided to retaliate later.
Better to weaken them now before they ever got the chance.
And finally, the demons.
They weren’t the physically strongest race, but their numbers, influence, and connection to the gods made them a threat worth eliminating.
Spread across countless cities and backed by divine favor, they were deeply rooted in Universal Descent’s world.
Their king was powerful too, enough to give most armies a real challenge.
Not Alex though.
He could kill the Demon King in three seconds if he wanted, but this wasn’t about proving his strength.
This was about setting the board, about control.
A full-scale war across six different fronts would weaken everyone involved, and Alex wanted that chaos pointed in the right direction.
“These fools are inferior,” the angel commander suddenly muttered, a grin creeping onto his face as his eyes started glowing with excitement, “Putting them under us will be much better. The angels will rise above all!”
His voice carried the kind of dark amusement that hinted at bloodlust, his six wings flaring slightly behind him.
“This guy really loves war,” Volks sighed, giving Alex a look that said he’d grown used to it, “But don’t mind him. We’ll do it.”
“It’s been way too calm lately,” the commander added, rolling his shoulders and cracking his knuckles as though he were warming up for a personal brawl.
His wings moved gently, each flap brimming with energy.
“This’ll keep us busy for a while, but we’ll try to handle it as fast as possible.”
“Good,” Alex nodded in approval, “The ogres, beastmen, and giants should be the easiest.”
“I agree,” Volks said without hesitation, “Taking over their cities or eliminating them won’t be much trouble. They’re poorly organized and rely too much on strength alone.”
Alex’s gaze sharpened slightly.
“It’s mostly the Minotaurs, Elves, especially the Dark Elves, and Demons I’m worried about,” he continued, pausing for a moment before taking a deep breath, “And thus…”
Everyone turned to him as he fell silent for a second, letting the air thicken with anticipation.
“If you’re stuck in a stalemate after two to three weeks… I’ll join this war myself to end it.”
That sentence alone felt like a mountain being lifted.
Even the most tense soldiers relaxed, some visibly.
The air seemed to pulse with new confidence.
FateBreaker would join them.
The same man who had defeated the [God of the Abyss], the same man who had killed the [Hatred Demon], was now saying he’d step in if needed.
There was no war they couldn’t win with him.
“I’ll be heading off to take care of a few more things,” Alex added, brushing his hair back casually, “But I’ll return later.”
“Very well,” Volks replied with a respectful nod, while the angel commander stepped forward and extended a massive hand toward Alex.
Alex took it without hesitation, and the two exchanged a firm handshake, one sealed with respect, power, and shared purpose.
There was a clear reason Alex gave them a deadline of two or three weeks before he intervened.
It wasn’t impatience. It was efficiency.
He wanted everything on his objective list completed before the [Chosen Games] began, and to do that, he couldn’t leave anything to chance.
If the angels failed to finish the job by themselves, he’d sweep in, crush the leaders of the remaining races, and bring the war to a swift, brutal conclusion.
He didn’t have time for a war to drag out for months. Let alone years.
And though the angels were one of the strongest races in the game, Alex knew there were still variables at play, especially with races like the demons or minotaurs.
That’s why he was prepared to step in and personally destroy the [Strongest Minotaur], the [King of the Elves or Dark Elves], and even the [Demon King] if it came to it.
That was the plan.
And now that his orders had been given, it was time to focus on the next objective, one that he had already planned in advance: the Towers.
It made sense to do them now, especially because clearing them would take a significant amount of time.
Plus, there was a good chance he could handle two other critical objectives while doing so.
[Find the “Token of Wrath” in the “Tower of Wrath”.]
[Find the “Token of Nightmares” in the “Tower of Nightmares”.]
Both were tied directly to the towers, but another key goal weighed on his mind too.
[Upgrade the “Undead Lord” talent to A-Rank, and use the “Talent Upgrade Scroll” to bring it to S-Rank before the “Chosen Games”.]
That talent had fallen behind.
His summons were too weak now, far too outdated to keep up with what he was facing.
But the potential was still there.
Somewhere within that class was a possibility, either a swarm of upgraded summons or one monstrously strong undead ally.
Even if they weren’t strong enough to be useful long-term, they would still be assets against the [Lich], who was likely one of the strongest enemies during the Chosen Games.
The Lich, too, had power over the dead.
Alex needed every edge he could get.
After answering a few final questions from the angels and giving them a highly detailed location of the [Level 3 Demon City], a place he had marked ever since defending the [Fox Tribe Village], Alex finally pulled open his [World Map].
The system had marked both the [Tower of Wrath] and the [Tower of Nightmares] earlier when he had asked about them.
With that info readily available, navigating to them was no longer an issue.
Strangely enough, one of the towers was actually quite close to Angel City.
With no reason to wait any longer, Alex unfurled his wings.
Two massive ones from his [Dragon Bloodline], and two brilliant white ones from his [Angel Blessing].
Together, they gave him the appearance of something no longer fully human.
With a powerful flap of all four wings, Alex launched into the sky, soaring upward before tilting forward and flying in the direction of the nearest tower.
There was no hesitation in his flight. No fear in his heart. Only focus.
It was time to find at least one of the final two tokens, and once he finished everything else, acquire the second one and open the [Door of Destiny].
