Atticus’s Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground
Chapter 1307: RealizationChapter 1307: Realization
A heavy silence followed.
Only gods were allowed in the Arena of Gods. Should he accept, there would be no interference. God versus god.
Kancilot and his warriors waited. But the king’s eyes were cautious, despite their superior power.
During their own trial, they hadn’t sensed anything until their capital was under attack. They assumed it was part of the test.
As a god, he should have felt everything happening in his world. But back then, he hadn’t sensed their arrival. Not their movement. Not their presence.
It was only after his family was gone that he realized. But this child, this boy, had found them before they’d even taken a step.
It was strange.
Kancilot had felt a gaze watching them from the sky. His warriors assumed the child had just appeared. But deep down, he knew that wasn’t the case.
He had been there all along. Watching them since their arrival. The thought alone was enough to send a shudder through him.
But Kancilot shoved all those feelings down. There was no way he was losing here.
Seconds passed since Kancilot’s challenge, but no response came.
’A trial, huh.’ Atticus’ thoughts were utterly calm.
He had suspected something was wrong. Quiet Flame and Whisker had spoken of the middle planes, but never about the act of ascending. Even when he asked Quiet Flame directly, the star had evaded the question.
Something was off. Something was going to happen during ascension. That had been Atticus’ conclusion.
So, he had anticipated it, prepared for what might come. And as it turned out, it was another trial. Another world.
“Good.”
That was all Atticus said.
The warriors of Kariot narrowed their eyes, immediately on edge. Where was the shock? The uncertainty? The caution?
Who reacted to intruders invading their world with such nonchalance? Good?
The air around the king and his circle grew hotter. This child… he was looking down on them. Their killing intent burst forth, flooding the space like a tidal wave.
The king’s voice was like iron.
“The challenge was to prevent needless bloodshed. Only your death is required. Your people don’t have to die. Take it as mercy.”
His will flared as he spoke, expanding rapidly. It was thick, thicker than even the crimson will that surrounded the world.
None of the Kariot warriors felt the pressure of Atticus’ crimson will anymore. They fueled their wills with the armor and stone, channeling the power into their weapons, suppressing the outside influence.
But Atticus simply tilted his head, intrigued.
He had arrived here long before they did. He had seen everything. His eyes had especially been on their armors and the glowing stones embedded in their foreheads.
Atticus could tell it was those items that enabled them to wield such high level power.
With just a glance, he saw it clearly, their wills surpassed the cap of the lower planes. Even the warriors themselves, not just the god. It was insane.
To think that weapons could bring out such force in people…
Atticus cleared his thoughts as he felt their wills spreading. He hadn’t been lying with that single word earlier. He was glad they had attacked Eldoralth.
He had just undergone what could only be called a power up. Right now, he stood at the edge of unfamiliar territory. He needed to understand this power. To control it.
In simple terms, he was happy he had gotten test subjects.
At Atticus’ continued silence, the expressions of Kancilot and his circle began to twist, until Atticus suddenly raised a hand.
His will surged forth in a wave of pressure.
The heat that had vanished returned all at once, and the eyes of the king and his warriors widened in shock.
They poured more power into their wills, trying to push back. But it was no use. The heat kept building, and sweat soaked their bodies, even the king felt it dripping down his face.
“With a sturdier will, your concept will affect your opponent no matter how they resist,” Atticus muttered.
But his words reached their ears clearly.
’He’s… training?’ Kancilot realized, stunned.
He shot a glance at Lancaster, his expression showed the same thing. Confusion.
Their current will was stronger than any of them had possessed during their ascension. It was even stronger than what their enemies had back then.
So how was this child’s will overpowering them?
“Weapons!” Kancilot roared.
His warriors responded immediately, brandishing their weapons as their auras surged.
“Attack!”
They were about to move when Atticus’ voice cut in once more.
“Let’s see how they fare in a direct clash.”
They barely had time to comprehend the words before Atticus’ will slammed into theirs.
To Kancilot, it was like a mountain had dropped on top of him.
He plummeted from the sky, crashing into the ground with an earth shaking boom.
Gritting his teeth, Kancilot fought against the pressure. All around him, his elites were sprawled across the ground, bodies bending beneath the crushing force.
The heat… it had intensified even further. Their flesh had begun to sizzle.
Kancilot couldn’t understand it. This child, how was his will this strong!?
Back during their own trial, the invaders hadn’t even used weapons like these and yet they had still been defeated!
The wills of those who had spent centuries in the crucible were forged in torment. Hardened beyond what newly ascending worlds could normally match.
Kariot had been unlucky, pitted against a world far beyond them.
Eldoralth… was supposed to be just as unlucky.
So where had this monster come from?
Was this truly a newly ascending world?
Kancilot gritted his teeth so hard blood filled his mouth. The sharp sting of his overwhelmed will seared through him, but he shoved it all down.
’I can’t lose!’
He glanced at his elites, many were worse off than he was and some had already lost consciousness.
And finally, Kancilot understood why Dravek had given them so many resources. Why he had insisted on empowering them. Why he had been so cautious.
Kancilot had questioned it at first, why so much for just one world…
But now, he had the answer.
They hadn’t been sent to conquer a weakling. They had been sent to face a monster.
