Tang Jie’s argument that he knew the location of another domain because he had laid down the teleportation formation was naturally nonsense.
But he really did know his exact location in the void.
The reason was very simple.
The original body!
The soul connection meant that Tang Jie’s original body could sense the general location and direction of the avatar, which let him know which region of space he was in.
With this rough location, things became much easier.
He would have to first find a star atlas, and through it, he would identify which worlds were in what direction, after which he could simply fly in that general direction.
With the mental connection, he could adjust the route at any time and ensure that he didn’t fly in the wrong direction.
The first star atlas was not an item made by any particular cultivator, but a natural Dao armament that flowed out from the Lustrous Treasure River of the Boundless Sea of Stars, the Stellar Net Astrolabe. The Stellar Net Astrolabe had only one function, which was to reflect the Great Stellar Chiliocosm to an incredible level of precision, even changing as worlds changed.
When Yu Cheng sliced the Rosecloud Domain in two, the Blood River Domain subsequently appeared on the Stellar Net Astrolabe. And when the Blood River Domain was merged with the Rosecloud Domain, the Stellar Net Astrolabe again made the adjustment. For this reason, some people believed that the Stellar Net Astrolabe was a manifestation of the chiliocosm’s will. For the same reason, people made treasures in imitation of the Stellar Net Astrolabe. Astrolabes were considered one of the three treasures of fortune tellers, along with counting rods and divination manuals.
Divination conveyed the Dao, counting rods simulated the future, and astrolabes manifested the will of the heavens. With these three and the Dao of Fate, one could become a true fortune teller.
Astrolabes had differences in quality. Ordinary astrolabes naturally couldn’t reflect the cosmos and serve as star atlases. Astrolabes had to be at the divine treasure level in order to do this, so star atlases were very rare, and Tang Jie had yet to obtain one.
Without a star atlas, it didn’t matter that Tang Jie could sense his avatar.
Fortunately, Tang Jie knew where to find a star atlas.
Zoros!
Nether Emperor Zoros had been born from an astrolabe spirit.
To be more precise, he was actually an astrolabe, one that held a complete star atlas.
Although Zoros was dead, a little of his will still lingered in the world. While using Wang Posha’s Fate power to conceal himself, Tang Jie had also used it to find this remaining will and extract the star atlas from it, which he imprinted on his mind.
It was fortunate that Zoros hadn’t been dead for too long, for once his will completely dissipated, not even the power of Fate would be able to find it.
After copying the star atlas, Tang Jie removed his hand from Wang Posha’s body.
Wang Posha collapsed.
Tang Jie quickly held him up, stuffing a pill into his mouth before grabbing him and flying off.
Without reinforcements, the ghost army had lost its advantage in numbers, so the human cultivators had completely turned the tables, and victory was at hand.
Tang Jie flew out and went up to the Rosecloud cultivators, shouting, “Tianchong!”
Wei Tianchong pushed back a group of Ghost Kings with a sky-rending blow and shouted, “Tang Jie, you’re finally back. I knew that you would be fine.”
“But Posha is in trouble. Take him.” Tang Jie threw Wang Posha over.
Wei Tianchong had a puppet grab him, but after a glance, he said in shock, “What’s wrong with him? It’s just a flesh wound, so why do I feel his vitality rapidly draining away?”
Tang Jie sighed. “He sacrificed himself for me. Without him, my avatar might have already died.”
“What?” Wei Tianchong was aghast. Tang Jie’s avatar was at Immortal Platform. What could kill him?
Tang Jie didn’t answer, saying, “Posha will survive for now, but because I seized so much of his Fate power, he’s suffering a backlash of fortune that is devouring his vitality. The only way he can recover is to find Heavenly Mandate Grass in the Nether Domain.”
“‘Heavenly Mandate Grass’?” Wei Tianchong was alarmed.
Even in the Nether Domain, this was an extremely rare herb.
Most importantly, Tang Jie was implying something else.
“You’re going to the Nether Domain?” Wei Tianchong blurted out.
Tang Jie nodded. “The corpse of my original body is still in the Nether Domain, and I never had plans to just leave it there. And with such an important matter like this, I have even more of a reason to go. I leave the matter of the Flame Yang Domain to all of you. Everything should be fine if you proceed according to my original plan. Wait for me here. Once I get the Heavenly Mandate Grass, I will have Tang Chuan deliver it.”
Tang Jie flew back down.
The Chaos Net Heavenly Formation was linked to the Nine Nethers, which made it an entrance to the Nether Domain. If he didn’t use this entrance, it would be much more difficult to find another entrance.
“But you don’t know where it grows, so how are you going to find it?” Wei Tianchong shouted.
Without turning back, Tang Jie replied, “I don’t know where it grows, but there’s definitely a place that has it.”
“Where?”
“A Nether God’s palace.”
“Oh,” Wei Tianchong replied.
Nether Gods were the sovereigns of the Nether Domain, so it was understandable if they owned Heavenly Mandate Grass.
Hang on…
A Nether God’s palace!
Wei Tianchong felt his blood run cold.
Tang Jie was going to charge into a Nether God’s palace?
What was he thinking? This wasn’t his Immortal Platform avatar, but the Celestial Heart original body!
He wanted to call him back, but Tang Jie had already plunged into the formation, activated the Yellow Springs vortex, and vanished into it. In a flash, Tang Jie had passed through the vortex and once more entered the Nether Domain.
——————————————————
As he returned to the Nether Domain, he was once more greeted by a bleak and murky yellow.
Tang Jie jumped out of the Yellow Springs as Tang Chuan began to mentally guide him. Fortunately, the Nether God’s palace and the Yan River where his corpse resided were in the same direction.
Twenty-some days later, Tang Jie reached the Yan River.
His corpse was still peacefully lying at the bottom, but this time, Tang Jie needed to fear no covetous eyes.
But rather than bringing up the corpse, he first took out a large number of materials.
These were all from the Flame Yang Domain, and most of them were rare and valuable, but Tang Jie had left them unused until now.
Tang Jie began to lay out a formation.
The formation was soon complete, and Tang Jie entered the formation. Upon activation, motes of light began to flash on his body, and as more and more light gathered, it created a grandiose figure that magnified his aura and majesty.
Tang Jie let out a howl.
With this howl, the corpse down in the water stood up on its own and began to rise to the surface.
The immense body emerged from the river like a breaching whale, and then it dissipated into a stream of energy that flowed into Tang Jie.
It was extremely similar to what had happened with the Immortal Emperor.
…Because Tang Jie had learned it from him.
The Immortal Emperor had buried his corpse so that he could recover his cultivation in the future, and Tang Jie just so happened to have his own corpse preserved in the Yan River.
When the Immortal Emperor was reborn, he had taken Tang Jie’s wealth and pried into his secrets, but Tang Jie also learned a lot from the Immortal Emperor. One of these was a way to transform his corpse into primordial energy and absorb it. It was many times more efficient than the methods Tang Jie had used before.
But the Immortal Emperor had been at Immortal Platform when performing the absorption, whereas Tang Jie was only at Heart Demon, so the gap in strength between him and his corpse was vast. Thus, Tang Jie needed to employ other methods to protect himself so that he didn’t explode from absorbing too much.
This All-Accepting Ocean Formation was for expanding his total capacity.
As spiritual energy surged into his body, his cultivation level began to rise. He soon entered the Soul Transformation Tier, swiftly reaching the peak, after which he then broke through the Violet Palace threshold and entered Infant Tending.
It was a shocking level of advancement, but alas, there was no one to appreciate it.
But there was still power left in his corpse, carrying Tang Jie forward, blasting him through Infant Tending until he finally entered Deification.
After Deification, his advancement speed finally began to slow, and when the energy finally ran out, his cultivation had stopped at the middle of Deification.
With this, all the energy from his corpse had been spent.
Tang Jie was rather surprised that it was only enough to get him to middle-phase Deification. After all, the original body had been at the equivalent of Soul Projection’s peak, only half a step from Immortal Platform. Even if some of that energy had been lost after death, the nature of a body cultivator and Tang Chuan’s maintenance had preserved the majority of that energy. Moreover, Tang Jie had also been out for an extended period and absorbed many other resources to grow stronger.
Thus, Tang Jie had expected to reach early Soul Projection, or even middle Soul Projection.
While Deification and Soul Projection were separated by only a tier, this tier represented at least three times the energy.
In other words, the energy left in the corpse was half as much as Tang Jie had expected.
No, it wasn’t that the corpse had less energy. Rather, Tang Jie’s requirements had doubled.
Ever since he had obtained the perfect body, Tang Jie could sense that he needed more energy than usual to advance, but he never knew exactly how much.
With the complete digestion of his corpse, Tang Jie finally had a rough estimate. He could calculate that he would need three parts of energy for every one part required by regular cultivators.
This was a necessary price for the greater power endowed by the perfect body.
Tang Jie didn’t mind, for he knew how strong this body was. It wasn’t just anybody who could experience the feeling of sweeping through hundreds of enemies of the same level as him.
Three times the energy for a hundred times the strength! In the past, overcoming enemies above his level required plenty of preparation to make all the factors just right, but now, Tang Jie was essentially fighting on equal footing with those one tier above him. Even defeating people two tiers above him was no longer impossible.
Of course, while there were only two tiers between Deification and Immortal Platform, there was a qualitative evolution, so Tang Jie didn’t dare to say that he could win. But defeating Soul Projection cultivators was no longer a dream.
“I really, really want to kill!”
Tang Jie sighed.
He looked around at the desolate Nether Domain.
Tang Jie laughed.
He suddenly felt like the Nether Domain was a beautiful place.
Here, he could kill without the slightest sense of guilt.
He abruptly turned around and charged, blasting energy in all directions, obliterating all ghosts it touched!
