Chapter 1891: Stalling Elder Pondwyn

Chapter 1891: Stalling Elder Pondwyn

Elder Pondwyn knew that if he did not escape from Grey’s clutches, there was no way for him to escape.

Grey was thrown back with every move, but he always comes back in barely a few milliseconds. He was not as powerful as Elder Pondwyn, but with the help of his space element and other elements, he is able to ensure that the impact he receives from each attack is almost negligible. Each attack that he could not evade was faced head on.

Elder Pondwyn could not believe he was unable to deal with a Seventh stage Sovereign. When he first saw Grey, he did not think he would be able to stall him. Most Seventh stage Sovereign would not even survive an attack from him, much less take more than one move. Grey was genuinely fighting with him, which broke his worldview. He had seen human geniuses before, but none of them were as overpowered as Grey. What made Grey such a freak is not the fact that he is stronger than a normal Seventh stage Sovereign, but his battle awareness is off the charts, so even when the odds are stacked against him like in this situation, his space element and his breathtaking battle knowledge always makes up for his disadvantage.

“Let me leave and I’ll hand all my treasures to you.”

Elder Pondwyn switched to pleading with Grey after he realized there was no way for him to shake Grey off. It was close to a minute and even though they were moving continuously during the exchanges, Sir Astarot and the others were only getting closer and closer. The longer Grey delayed him, the more certain he was of his death. The punishment for betrayal in the Magical Beasts Kingdom is death, there was no way around it, and Elder Pondwyn is aware of this.

Grey took a glance at Elder Pondwyn, there was not a single atom of pity in his eyes. Anyone who could use their kind as corpse Puppets did not deserve to live. He continued blocking Elder Pondwyn’s path, the offer made by Elder Pondwyn did not even shake his desire to stop Elder Pondwyn from leaving.

“I’ll fight you to the death!” Elder Pondwyn knew there was no talking his way put of this, since that was the case, he had to do all he could to at least try to keep his life. And the only way to keep his life is if he was able to escape from here today.

Elder Pondwyn’s conviction to live currently outweighed his safety. He charged straight at Grey, his aura slowly becoming eerie.

Grey noticed this and attacked, using his new space elemental attack. One of his greatest gains in the secret world, with the exception of Jakob Vaergahl’s blood essence, is the space elemental technique he received when he traveled with City Lord Vaughn. The technique required him to create what looked like a blade that is about an inch wide, and anything that gets within that inch is sent to the vast void.

This technique was different from dimensional slash he learnt from Void, and it was just as powerful, if not stronger.

Facing this strange attack, Elder Pondwyn did not evade or try to block it, his body gave a bright green glow and his small size expanded. In the space of a quarter of a second, he had gone from a few inches to well over eight meters large.

Grey’s attack hit him on the side of his right shoulder, and what he expected did not happen. The attack passed the green glow, before leaving a three inch deep and one inch wide opening on the shoulder.

Struck by the pain, Elder Pondwyn momentarily halted and took a quick glance at his shoulder, the result of the attack scared him, and he could not help but give Grey a fearful glance. He felt relieved when he did not see Grey trying to use the attack again. This was not an attack he wanted to be on the receiving end of again.

The impact of the pain only stopped Elder Pondwyn for a short period, he continued his charge right after. Even though he was feeling immense pain at the moment, escaping was more important.

After using the space elemental attack, Grey thought it would be enough to slow down Elder Pondwyn, but seeing how quickly the latter was able to instantly recover from the attack, he retreated. Staying close to the current Elder Pondwyn was too dangerous.

Elder Pondwyn did not have the intention of letting Grey go, especially after taking the sacrifice to take his attack head-on. This gave him the chance to close the distance between himself and Grey. Without the distance, he opened his mouth and spat out a greenish blob. At the same time, his tongue shot out like a vine, trying to wrap itself around Grey’s body.

The tongue was the first to get to Grey, knowing he could not allow it to tie him down, Grey tried to use the space element to escape his predicament. His expression changed when he realized that the space around him had been locked down by Elder Pondwyn. The tongue wrapped around him with a vice-like grip, and the greenish blob came crashing down on his body.

There was no way to evade the blob at the moment, with no other choice, he made use of not just his earth and water elements to create a protective shield around him, his skin also saw a change as scales formed on it. A bright glow also appeared on his body, a sign of him using the defensive artefact he was wearing. This was something he acquired years ago, and it has been helpful over the years.

The blob landed right after Grey finished setting up his defenses. As soon as it made contact with both the water and earth elements’ defensive shields, it easily ate through it. The blob did not stop there, continuing to erode deeper at a fast pace, it soon got to the glow Grey’s defensive artefact created. The light blinked twice before succumbing to the powerful corrosive ability of the green blob.
