Chapter 1862: Given Your Talent, I Don’t Mind
Grey left the Manor immediately after taking the core, only to stop about two kilometers away from the Manor. The reason he stopped was because a group of people were blocking his path.
Before him was a group of eight, in that group, Grey recognized all but the Old man leading them.
“I thought I told you to scram?” He asked impatiently, the group was from the Twilight Faction, and other than the Old man, the rest were the Sovereigns he saw back in the Manor. The Old man was standing in front of Young Master Idris which proved that his status was higher than the latters.
“Little friend seems to be in a hurry, why don’t you come with me, let’s chat.” The Old man was the one who spoke up from the group.
Grey turned to the Old man, “I have already told them I have no interest in doing anything with you people.”
The Old man did not expect Grey to not show him any form of respect, he had thought speaking amicably will be able to at least get him to speak with Grey, shaking his head he sighed, “They did say you are quite unreasonable.”
“Unreasonable?” Grey was left speechless by the Old man’s claim. He was the one who was attacked unjustly for his treasure, yet he was the unreasonable one in their eyes.
“Grandfather, there is no point wasting words with him, we should capture him before he tries to run away.” Young Master Idris urged from the side, he felt all these talks were pointless. Given his Grandfather’s strength, as long as he wanted to take Grey away, he was confident he could do this alone, even with Grey’s strange movement technique.
“There’s no rush, since I’m here, he can not escape.” The Old man assured with utmost confidence. From his perspective, Grey had been caught and was no different from a prisoner.
Grey suddenly asked a question that caught the Old man by surprise, pointing at Young Master Idris as he asked, “Your status in your Faction is higher than his correct?”
Taken by surprise the Old man did not react immediately, but soon reacted with a chuckle, giving Grey a nod with a look of curiosity in his eyes.
Grey continued after seeing his nod, “Good, so you should know why your Faction Leader is interested in me, right?”
“Hmm, indeed my position in the Faction is quite high, second only to the Faction Leader, but I do not know why he developed an interest in you.” The Old man did not try to hide anything from Grey, further explaining, “When I asked him why he wanted to capture you so much, he said you were interesting. And seeing how you have managed to evade us for so long, I understand now.”
The Old man was initially skeptical as to why the Faction Leader would be interested in a young man in the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane, although the movement technique described seemed magical, he did not think it was worth wasting so much resources over, especially when the chances of getting it wasn’t high. He believed such strange techniques were not simple to use and would usually require some sacrifice. After a month of multiple failed attempted captures, he slowly started to become interested in Grey. His interest was further piqued when even Peak Sovereigns failed to capture him when they managed to cross paths with him.
He could see that Grey was not afraid of him, which was most likely a sign of him being confident he can escape.
Sneering internally he thought to himself, ‘Arrogance truly is the bane of all geniuses.’
Most Seventh stage Sovereigns would be shaking if they stood before him, even Ninth stage Sovereigns dared not breathe carelessly in his presence, yet Grey was standing before him, questioning him even concerning certain things. If he was not personally experiencing this, he would have never believed something like this could happen.
Hearing the Old man’s words, Grey fell silent for a short time, he could not help but feel annoyed by the explanation. Just because the Twilight Faction Leader found him interesting he decided to hunt him down for the past months. Luckily he was not a native of this place, else he did not know how he would have been able to live the rest of his life.
Seeing that Grey did not try to escape, the Old man chuckled, “Seems Little friend has agreed to follow me back for a chat.”
“Who agreed to follow you back for a chat?” Grey immediately interjected, before adding with a snort, “And I am not your friend.”
The Old man’s previous amiable expression disappeared, replaced with a cold one. He has been calmly speaking with Grey only because he was curious about him, he would not accept any disrespectful attitude from him.
“I’m taking you back with me today, unscathed or at death’s door.” The Old man said before taking a step forward while stretching out his hand.
Grey only saw the Old man take a step before his vision blurred, realizing what was happening, he reacted instantly, using his space element to merge with the void so he could phase through whatever was coming his way.
The Old man appeared behind the spot where Grey was standing, his outstretched palm clamping down on Grey’s head. His palm which was supposed to hit Grey passed through with almost no resistance.
“Huh?” A surprised exclamation escaped from the Old man’s lips.
A soft groan was heard twenty meters away as Grey’s figure appeared once again. His breathing was not as calm as it used to be, and there was blood at the side of his mouth which was a clear sign of injury.
Wiping the blood from the side of his mouth, Grey glared at the Old man, he did not think he would make a move so soon, luckily he reacted in time.
Seeing Grey look at him with hostility, the Old man did not show any reaction to it, still looking at Grey strangely, a second later he muttered with a smile, “Interesting. Boy, I really want to know how you are able to achieve instantaneous movement.”
“It’s not something someone like you can comprehend.” Grey replied after regaining his composure, a smile appeared on his face as he added, “Although I’m not too willing, given your talent, I don’t mind taking a Student under my tutelage.”
Young Master Idris almost choked on his saliva when he heard this, not just him, the other Sovereigns by his side all showed shock. Never in their dreams would they believe that a young man not even older than Grand Elder Laird’s grandson would dare to utter such words to him. Not to mention the fact that he was even the weaker party. Their initial surprise soon turned to amusement as they burst into a fit of laughter, it was as if they just heard the funniest joke in the world. And they could not be blamed, the disparity in strength between Grey and the Old man was large, even Grey’s genius would not be able to bridge the gap.
The Old man did not expect Grey to say such words, so he looked at the latter with an odd expression, “Interesting, truly interesting.”
He took another step, and just like before, it was as if his figure disappeared.
Grey, on the other hand became alert, the last time the Old man did something like this, he suffered a loss, even though it was little, it was still a loss. He knew he could not take any of this Old man’s blows head-on.
He suddenly felt a chill down his spine, without hesitation, his figure disappeared with a flicker, appearing a hundred meters away. This time though, he did not stand there, his figure flickering almost immediately again, reappearing a few hundred meters away.
This continued for about five seconds before the sound of an explosion rang out, along with a muffled groan and a figure crashing down from the air into the forest.
Above the forest was the Old man, staring down at the crater formed below. In a short ten seconds, he tried to attack Grey over a hundred times, and he only managed to catch a hold of him just now. He squinted his eyes to look at Grey, his expression wavering from curiosity to excitement and then seriousness. In the short exchange with Grey, he had already confirmed one thing, if he wanted to take Grey with him, he needed to use more effort than he thought. Even Peak Sovereigns will not be able to make him have such thoughts.
“Such a strange movement technique.”
The Old man knew that the reason Grey is able to barely match up to him in speed was due to his strange movement technique. Now he knew why they have not been able to capture him all this while.
