Affinity: Chaos

Chapter 1569 Hunt For A Test Subject III

The battle quickly peaked with Reynolds and Alice both showing their secret weapons. There was no other way to dodge the attacks of the puppets without bringing out their Seelie and Elemental Warrior.

The lady gained the advantage with the appearance of both puppets since they could distract the duo while she attacked them conveniently. With her superior strength, she was able to quickly start injuring each of them.

Alice and Reynolds were both forced into a corner, barely able to fight against the lady with their strengths. They were strong, and without the puppets they had a good chance to fight against the lady, but with the puppets there to distract them, they found it hard to fight properly.

The lady didn't didn't give them any chance to get the advantage over her, luckily, the duo were fast else the battle would've ended the moment her puppets came out.

Alice used all three domains at once, merging them into an attack which she used to destroy the puppet that was bothering her.

Reynolds wasn't able to do the same, but he was able to force the lady to retreat, giving Alice the chance she needed to destroy that puppet.

With one puppet gone, the pressure on the duo reduced significantly, but that was not the end, they still had to deal with the lady as well as the other puppet.

Just when they were starting to get hopes of a potential victory, another puppet appeared, still in the First stage of the Sovereign Plane. It attacked the duo quickly, not giving them the chance to destroy the other puppet.

Both were soon forced into a plight once again, they couldn't do anything against them since the lady was extra careful this time. Not just that, but they could sense the effect of the darkness element started to show signs in their bodies.

This was as a result of taking multiple attacks from the darkness element. The darkness element was a brutal element that once it finds its way into the body of an Elementalist, it can slowly corrode the essence of the Elementalist, depending on how the user of the darkness element desires.

Grey and Klaus watched the fight from below, waiting for their chance to come. The chances of being able to defeat this lady without Grey's ability to cut off her link to her puppet was small, but he didn't want to defeat her in that manner because he needed to make sure he used his abilities as much as he could to battle. If he wasn't forced to the end of the wall, he wouldn't know what he's truly capable of.

Alice was the first to be sent flying, but she was protected by her ice dome. Reynolds couldn't fight against the three on his own and was soon sent crashing to the ground.

"You two brats think you have what it takes to stop me?! You might be powerful, but not on my level. I wouldn't mind making puppets out of you. I can cultivate you to the Peak of the Sovereign Plane, you two have the talent to achieve this." The lady was pleased with the items she acquired.

Grey and Klaus stepped out from their hiding place as they stood before Reynolds and Alice.

"It's our turn, you guys have seen what you can achieve." Klaus didn't hide the reason behind all four not fighting the woman simultaneously.

"Two more, I noticed something was off. So you four are using me as target practice." The lady didn't panic, rather, she looked around, trying to find where the powerhouse was hiding.

"You think we brought someone who can ensure our safety?" Grey asked, he remained nonchalant as he replied, "You don't have to worry about that, we are here alone."

"Do you think anyone assigned with our safety will allow you to do that to them?" Klaus asked.

"So you two want to see if you can deal with me?" The lady asked.

Grey and Klaus nodded. They were about to attack when the lady suddenly spoke up once again.

"I know how this usually works, the fact that you four willingly stepped up and did something like this doesn't show you have blind confidence, it shows that you're certain that you will win, which is not something that's good for me." The lady said, she knew things like these only happen when the assurance of killing the other party was a hundred percent.

She might be able to defeat them, but they can kill her, this she was very certain of after seeing Grey and Klaus. She didn't know who they were, but she could tell that they weren't dumb or overestimating themselves, which meant that they could kill her.

"What are you implying?" Grey stopped Klaus from attacking.

"I win, I get to leave, alive and whatever way the fight ends, you win, and you do what you already have in mind." The lady suggested.

"We can renege on our words if we are defeated."

"That's why you swear on these." The lady tossed something to them.

"What's with Necromancers and these things?"

"Just take it."

Grey looked at the lady, she was smart, which he didn't expect, however, she still underestimated them, Grey wasn't confident that they could kill her, that was a certainty, he was also confident that they could beat her, after all, without her puppets, she wouldn't be able to fight against the onslaught of both Grey and Klaus.

"Fine, but let me make something clear to you, I don't lose such wagers, especially to a Necromancer." Grey did what was required of him with the orb and so did Klaus. Reynolds and Alice went to the side to rest, trying to recover their strengths.

With Klaus having to fight with Grey, it meant that their team was stronger. Klaus also has the slight edge over them in terms of fighting strength, so there was no shame in seeing him team up with Grey and defeat the lady even though they could not.
