Chapter 953 The Defense Of Avgi (2) - Eldrian's SupportSoon, the area became devastated. While it hurt to destroy their own home, the equine defenders did not let that prevent them from fighting. The Pegasi rained down their attacks with a clear mind. That it was kill or be killed. No mercy could be had.
Gales bore down on the ground-bound Terrors. Infused with ice, fire, light, lightning, and many other elements. It tore through the area like a rainbow of destruction. Leaving little but a wasteland behind.
Corraling the Terrors who could weather the storm of attacks right toward the Unicorns. Who, in turn, attempted to vanquish the survivors before the other demons could come to their aid. And while they did this, the Alepo (fox-like creatures) rained down lighting on the charging mob.
While the Alepo's attacks did little damage (they were only bloodline creatures, after all). The fires their attacks caused when lighting hit tree made advancing difficult.
While the ultimate clash of the two forces would not be delayed for long, it gave the Unicorns some much-needed time to lessen the number of Terrors who could run.
Sadly, only eighty Unicorns, thirty Pegasi, and five Alicorns stood against the horde of demons. And, for now, the Alicorns were watching from above. Waiting. Saving their mana for when it would be most needed.
In all this chaos, Ceph focused on maintaining the balls of light he had summoned. His task seemed simple. However, since the Terrors consumed any light in their surroundings, it was most draining. Not to mention he had to ensure the Pegasi's attacks won't disrupt his spells.
Whenever he failed, it allowed more and more of the Terrors to escape into the shadows. Hiding in the cracks of the trees, of the dirt, of scattered stones. They bid their time.
If they could survive until night, then the tides of the battle would quickly shift. Especially since none of the creatures who call Avgi their home could call upon holy magic. The best they would accomplish is a combination of light and other elements. But all their attacks lacked divinity.
Now, of course, demons aren't considered apparitions of life in the same way as the undead. Yes, they are also corrupted beings. However, they still follow the natural order of the world. Even if their souls are as corrupt as it comes.
Holy spells won't cancel out their existence as it does with the undead. However, a spell creating light composed of just mana would naturally be easier to withstand than one composed of lifeforce--even if only a faction as a type of faith.

Finishing calming his soul, and unfreezing his soul world, took a while. Probably half an hour, or perhaps a full one by Eldrian's count. Eldrian felt that this time had been a great success compared to previous times.
Now, he couldn't bask in the joy of his successful use of Tranquility. He knew that Avgi was fighting for its very survival. As someone who considered himself a dear friend of those who called it home, he had to help.
And as much as Eldrian wanted to rush into battle, he knew that was not where he would make the biggest different. Yes, he had reached Tier 6. Yes, he had managed to help Agamemas and Zamia kill a devil king. Yet, he was nowhere near their level.
Instead of charging to the frontlines, Eldrian looked at the updated settings of his interface. He hadn't investigated it much since the update. Though he knew there was a plethora of new options.
'It seems mine is still somewhat special. I know Judith complained about some functions costing entire levels. All mine only cost XP. Billions, sure. But I have plenty to spare.'
Going on a wild shopping spree. After all, his participation in the devil king's death had awarded him over 400B XP.
Eldrian had spent one hundred billion of the four in the blink of an eye. It didn't even cause him to lose a level. Showcasing just how ridiculously expensive levels became.
And now, his map was far more user-friendly.
Eldrian's main focus had been on detail-adding functions and auto-sorting functions. Instead of having just a few colors depicting friend and foe, he now had an entire collection. One for each race, large and small circles for numbers, names for troublesome opponents, and much more.
'So, there are two devil princes and a princess here. The latter is waiting in what makes a triangle. And... so, they are waiting for an opening where the Night Terrors are.'
Reaching out to Ceph, Eldrian quickly got into contact with Zamia. Who he shared an image of his map with (as best as he could). Eldrian wasn't the best at communication with images and feelings, but he felt he could succeed when staring at the map and sending it over.
'Of course, I can't say whether I managed to find everyone. After all, my map failed to find Erik and Akarui. It is possible to hide from it, even still.' Eldrian explained. The possibility of reinforcements teleporting over was also there.
'This is quite wonderful.' Zamia replied. While the mob of low-grade monsters like the goblins and orcs was mostly inconsequential, they made it difficult to find the elites among the enemy.
It allowed the enemy to attack with more force than was expected, which was never good. With this, however, they would be able to set traps and react appropriately.
As such, Zamia quickly put Eldrian in contact with Nerenth. The two worked together to make sure no one could sneak past them.
And, when the time came, Agamemas went on the offensive.
--
"I think it is about time we end this." The old Alicorn said. He and Zamia were near the top of the barrier. Watching over their burning home with rage boiling in their hearts. The sooner they could end this, the better.
"There might still be some unexpected enemies. Do be careful." Zamia said. She would stay behind. Her job was to ensure Agamemas could escape should the enemy have more reinforcements.
This was because she hadn't fully recovered from her earlier wounds, and she had held Agamemas back last time.
It had been a terribly long time since they had needed to fight for their lives. As loath as they were to admit it, they had both grown rusty with the years. As such, being a little more warry seemed wise.
After all, they couldn't expect Eldrian to save them again.
