A Journey That Changed The World
Chapter 1423 1423: Everything Is Calm NowBy the time the duo was done, Archer stepped out of the bathroom and slumped down on a nearby sofa. Valariana joined him, climbing into his lap with a smile as she curled up and fell asleep.
The next morning, he woke up to Elara’s voice echoing in his mind. ‘The Alliance is back, we may need to attack the Goldenmane Empire to stop it.’
Archer sighed when hearing this before teleporting to his bedroom and placing Valairana in bed. He made sure she was comfortable and left the Domain, he reappeared next to the Dragonkin woman.
”I think I’ll lead the legions until we establish a foothold?” he asked the redhead.
Elara nodded with a big smile. ”That would be good, I remember the last battle you took command in, we slaughtered the enemy armies with ease thanks to your tactics,” she replied.
Following that, he stayed at the eastern wall while the Dragonkin woman organized the legions. Once that was done, he led them into the jungle where the soldiers would create a road through the underbrush.
Hours later, he was sitting on an open-topped carriage which allowed him to see the surroundings as the ten legions marched through the eastern jungle. This continued until they came across a Goldenmane village.
His eyes narrowed as he ordered them to stop as the Oathkeepers made sure he was safe. When the Lion Demi-Humans spotted the Draconian’s they panicked but were moving slowly as if starving.
Archer stepped from the carriage and neared the village entrance, where he spotted gaunt children loitering. His gaze fell on the village garden, its soil lifeless and barren, prompting him to channel a surge of pure mana into the earth.
The villagers, witnessing this, teetered on the edge of panic, but their fear subsided as the garden’s blackened soil transformed back to a rich, fertile brown. Moments later, the people looked at the results and started celebrating.
Soon enough, the Legionnaires moved in and handed out bread to the surprised people but Elara appeared with a smile. ”Whats the plan Arch?”
”We leave a garrison and move onto the next city, which is a few days away from here,” he replied.
The villagers, grateful, warmly welcomed the soldiers. Archer learned they were a border village, neglected by the Goldenmane Empire. Intrigued, he ensured their needs were met, leaving behind a supply of food before departing.
Days passed until the scouts spotted a city sitting at the banks of a rushing river but when they emerged from the jungle, there was an enemy army waiting for them. Cannons and mages attack but he cast Cosmic Shield.
The shimmering barrier of mana safeguarded the 1st Legion as it organized into formation, while the other forces behind them established their camp. He observed the Goldenmane soldiers as they launched a reckless charge toward his disciplined ranks.
His troops, well-drilled and resolute, had already locked shields, forming an impenetrable wall of steel and resolve. Each soldier knew their role, moving with precision honed through countless battles.
As the enemy horde crashed against the shieldwall, a thunderous clash of metal and cries echoed across the field. The Goldenmane soldiers pressed forward, only to be met with a lethal response.
From behind the shields, a coordinated line of spears thrust outward, piercing through armor and flesh, skewering hundreds of Alliance soldiers in a single, devastating strike. The enemy’s momentum faltered, their ranks thrown into chaos as the 1st Legion held firm.
Just then, Archer sensed an enemy force heading around their line, prompting him to summon hundreds of Chull and Dark Termites. He ordered them to destroy the ambushing army.
The monsters rushed off, shocking the Draconian commanders who watched the silent creatures heading to protect the right flank. Moments later, the enemy cavalry faltered, horses rearing in panic as the monstrous wave closed in.
He watched as the Chull hit first, their armored bodies slamming into the front ranks with the force of a battering ram. Lances splintered uselessly against their iron-hard shells, and riders were flung from saddles, crushed underfoot, or torn apart by snapping claws.
The Dark Termites followed, swarming over the disoriented horses and soldiers, their relentless bites shredding leather, flesh, and steel alike. Screams of men and beasts mingled with the sickening crunch of armor and bone.
His gaze remained steady as he watched the cavalry dissolve into a storm of chaos. The Goldenmane banners fell, trampled into the blood-soaked earth, as the Chull and Dark Termites pressed their assault, leaving nothing but carnage in their wake.
Archer soldiers cheered, their morale surging at the sight of the enemy’s rout, and they pushed forward, making the enemies panic as the Alliance army was hit from two sides, shocking Elara.
”Impressive,” she complimented. ”The enemy wasn’t expecting the monsters, which reduced our deaths thanks to taking the brunt of the charge.”
”That was the plan,” he answered with a chuckle. ”Now to clean up the battlefield and attack the city. This will be are step to invade the Goldmane Empire.”
Following that, Elara led the rest of the legions toward the city, where they built a wooden wall around it. Everyone was confused, but he revealed to the commanders that it was to stop people from escaping to warn the rest of the enemy empire.
For days, the legions bombarded the city walls as the enemies returned fire with their cannons that smashed against the wooden wall. Thanks to the Draconian mages it was instantly repaired.
The redheaded Dragonkin was shocked as he commanded everything. He even added some attacks on the enemy army that tried to rush out of the city, but were instantly wiped out thanks to the overwhelming firepower.
Even more time passed, and Archer was sitting on the tower that he used as his private quarters, as Nightmare Ant Spitters defended it from attacks. He was standing on the balcony that looked over the enemy wall.
While there, Elara appeared beside him with a warm smile. ”Everything is calm now, the enemies stopped rushing at the wall after being blasted apart by the Dragonfire Company. I thought they weren’t going to stop.”
Archer let out a low chuckle at the redhead’s words as she settled into the chair across from him. Shaking his head, he leaned forward, his voice calm but laced with unshakable confidence. ”The enemy was desperate to break through our lines, but their gambit failed. Once we seize the city, the tide will turn decisively. Make sure the troops know, those who surrender are to be taken as prisoners, no exceptions.”
”Of course,” she replied with a big smile. ”The soldiers already know this and won’t go against your command.”
Following that, he grabbed Elara’s hand and teleported to his bedroom in the Domain, causing the woman to giggle as she knew what was about to happen. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and kissed him.
He sent a delighted shiver coursing through her. Gently but firmly, he guided the redhead onto the plush bed, positioning himself between her legs. Their passion ignited, and he made love to her with a tender intensity.
Each moment drew her deeper into ecstasy until she was a breathless, babbling mess, lost in the fervor of their connection. Once the couple was done, Elara was sleeping on his chest as he watched the Dragonfire Company fire at the city towers.
Explosions shook the ground, and the grasslands between the wall and Goldenmane City were a no man’s land. He sensed some of the Drakeguards sneaking toward the enemy, only to be attacked by hundreds of spells that wiped them out in an instant.
He got out of bed and approached the window as the dust cloud shot into the air. The ground was covered in craters full of bodies and blood. Days of battle had turned it into a bloody marsh.
Archer then turned his attention to the nearby river that had ships entering the city but some others were destroyed thanks to the Dragonfire Company. The enemy mages managed to protect most ships, and whenever the wall was built close to the riverbank, it was attacked.
That’s when he got an idea and teleported across the walkway until he appeared at the edge, where it was a few meters away from the river. Moments later, he summoned a dozen Chulls that stepped out of the portal.
He jumped down with a thud before speaking. ”There are monsters in the water. Hunt them down and kill the fuckers for me.”
A cacophony of chittering cries reverberated through the air as the Chull, their lobster-like forms bristling with jagged spines, plunged into the churning waters. Moments later, a ferocious clash erupted beneath the surface, sending sprays of foam skyward.
Archer’s eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing the frothing waves as he caught sight of massive sharks thrashing violently. The behemoths snapped and tore at the Chull, but the lobster-like monsters met them with ferocity, their claws slashing through scales and flesh in a brutal underwater melee.
