A Farmer's Journey To Immortality
Chapter 499: A Way to Strengthen the Body Cultivation PathAksai’s eyebrows raised slightly.
He didn’t interrupt, looking at the demon beast with pondering expressions.
Yelia spoke further.
“You are already planning to turn the Verdant Elder’s soul into your Aether Wisp by using the Aether Beast ritual. That will give you control over its soul. You’ll be able to use it to cast Aether Spells through your command.
The beast’s soul would also help you make significant strides in your Aether cultivation.”
She paused and glanced down at the beast’s unmoving body.
“But the body of the Verdant Elder is still intact… strong… filled with vitality. And more importantly, it is still alive. So instead of simply killing it to extract the soul, you can take a different path. You can form a bond not just with its soul… but also with its body.”
Aksai looked thoughtful but stayed silent. He was still waiting for her to explain some more. Thankfully, Yelia didn’t make him wait for long.
“In doing so, you’ll gain more than just an Aether Beast. You’ll have a Qi vessel. Something like a living, breathing storage for Qi—raw, powerful Qi from a demon beast.
You can draw from it whenever needed. Use it to strengthen your own body in battle. Or even command the beast’s body to fight beside you when needed.
What’s even more advantageous for you is the fact that you already have started your path in body cultivation. As such, the Qi Shell would also empower your body cultivation path by strengthening your Qi reserves and Qi quality.”
Aksai frowned slightly. “Hmm? That sounds like two beast contracts at once.”
After gaining deeper knowledge about Aether Beasts from his clone, Aron, in Acarnis, Aksai had learned how Aether Wisps and Aether Beasts truly worked.
The AetherTech Shard from the New Dawn organization described a new and radical method that allowed someone not native to Acarnis to begin their journey on the Aether cultivation path.
However, this radical method was based partly on concepts from Spirit cultivation. That was because the aliens who had infiltrated Acarnis practiced Spirit cultivation.
As a result, the Aether Wisp ritual was built on beast-taming techniques rooted in the Spirit path. It could be seen as a specialized form of the beast-taming methods typically used by Spirit cultivators, who formed contracts with demon beasts for various purposes.
After learning all this, Aksai had grown even more wary of the alien invaders from Acarnis. He had to admit—they were more advanced when it came to adapting Spirit cultivation concepts to support an entirely different path like Aether cultivation.
Because he now understood the concepts behind the ritual, Aksai could grasp what Yelia was proposing. He realized she was suggesting a method that combined principles from different cultivation paths and made them work together in a symbiotic way.
Yelia’s next words confirmed his thoughts.
“In a way, yes,” Yelia said. “But this is different from forming two separate contracts. This would be a single, fused connection. A full symbiotic relationship.”
She raised her hand and pointed gently at the beast’s chest.
“The key reason this is possible… is because of what you did before the trial. Your Spirit essence, your Silver Qi, and even traces of your Aether essence had already entered his body. They had touched the very center of his three paths—Spirit, Qi, and Aether.”
Aksai blinked. He remembered the way he had to fight the Verdant Elder during their first encounter. One could call it a slow grind before the kill. It seemed that this slow grind had its own advantages.
Yelia continued.
“When this demon beast underwent the trial for advancement, those traces weren’t pushed out. Instead, the trial forced his body and soul to accept them. To grow with them.
Your foreign essence was part of the challenge he overcame. And because of that, it became part of him.”
She looked back at Aksai, her expression calm but filled with meaning.
“Right now, this beast’s Spirit essence, Qi, and even his Soul Space are completely compatible with yours.
Even though he doesn’t have an active Aether essence, the fact that two of his three centers of powers align with yours indicate that his dormant Aether essence would also be compatible with yours.
In short, it is the synchronicity of the three paths of power. That’s something you won’t find again easily. Not even in Acarnis. It’s a one-in-a-million chance.”
Aksai remained quiet, thinking.
Yelia stepped a little closer.
“If you kill him now, you will get what you came for—an Aether Beast. But if you take a different path, you can get more.
You can gain a soul-bound creature that holds your Aether Wisp… and also a body you can command, one that holds an active Qi reserve. A living beast that walks when summoned, fights when needed, and fuels your body cultivation when absorbed.”
She let out a gentle breath and added one final thing.
“And because the beast is in a vegetative state, it can’t prevent its body from being trapped in a Qi Shell. Its instincts are dormant.
It is like an empty house, waiting to be claimed. Or rather, it is an empty plot that you can claim before merging with your own land.
You wouldn’t be forcing your will… you would be entering a bond. A rare, full-scale symbiosis.
Of course, you’d have to fight with the beast’s soul. But you needed to do that anyway if you were serious about turning his soul into your Aether Beast. As such, there are no drawbacks to this added option but many advantages if and when the contract succeeds.”
Aksai looked down at the beast again, eyes narrowed.
He could feel it now. The faint heartbeat. For some reason, he could even feel the newly formed Spirit Core within the demon beast’s Dantian, spinning around itself quietly.
Aksai exhaled slowly, the idea settling in his mind like a seed ready to sprout.
“Alright,” he said at last. “Show me how.”
Yelia smiled softly. “Of course, my liege.”
