Chapter 248

February 14th, 2021, 21:00

The great plains 15km West of Tsuyama, Okayama Prefecture, Honshu, Japan

The 14th aerial force’s 16 AH-64E Apache guardian attack choppers were flying at maximum speed towards the battlefield from their Tokushima camp in the night sky. Soon, the 16 choppers split into two groups.

The Apache guardian choppers slowly lowered their altitude and started to prepare for the assault.

Their target was the 7th and 8th armored company from the Corean Marines that had just taken out Japan’s 13th and 14th armored battalions.

The tanks from the 7th and 8th armored companies had already gotten into position to attack the choppers. When they heard the rotors, the C-3 White Tiger tanks had turned off all of their exterior lights, and prepared their four-round 60mm GTGAS-60 Black Dragon missiles, and stood by to launch. Also, nine C-30 Flying Tiger armored vehicles and six Sky Horse A2 KSMA-1 armored vehicles were positioned in the rear preparing for Commander Hong Man-ho’s orders to fire.

The two groups of Apache guardian helicopters had reached a distance where they could start their offensive. When they were about to begin, the C-3 White Tiger tank’s four-round 60mm launch pads started to fire their 60mm Black Dragon missiles after Lieutenant Colonel Hong Man-ho gave the order to launch.

The sight of 28 Black Dragon missile rounds flying into the sky was one to behold. The Apache guardian choppers did not expect an attack from the ground. They panicked and went into evasive maneuvers after spraying chaffs and flares.

Soon, the C-30 Flying Tiger A2 armored vehicles started to spray their 12mm laser Vulcan beams. Also, the KSMA-1 Sky Horse A2 armored vehicles each launched a round of S-LAM-100 Light Dragon missile.

The 14th aerial force’s Apache guardian choppers had lost their chance of making the offensive to the armored forces on the ground. They all started to retaliate after making evasive maneuvers. The choppers launched their Hellfire missiles and 70mm Hydra rockets attached on both wings.

However, one of the Apache choppers that had not actively made evasive maneuvers but instead focused on retaliation was hit by one of the Black Dragon missiles launched by the White Tiger tank and blew up in the sky. The five following choppers also met with the same fate and fell to the ground.

Meanwhile, pillars of dirt were rising around the White Tiger tanks as well. The powerful SECM disruptive waves had caused the Hellfire missiles and 70mm Hydra rockets launched by the Apache guardian choppers to miss their targets and fall towards the ground.

The surviving Apache guardian choppers’ pilots all flew low to the ground and started to fire their 30mm M230 chain gun while their fellow choppers crashed into the ground.

Numerous light beams were flying towards the ground and sky. Missiles were flying towards their targets while spraying flames from their rear as well. However, the anti-air capabilities of the ranger armored battalion overpowered the 14th aerial force.

During the war against China, the 20th armored division’s 26th armored battalion was victorious against 12 Chinese stealth fighter jets.

Yokoshi Hiro, the veteran of the 14th aerial force, shook the body of his chopper and avoided the Light Dragon missile by an inch. The Light Dragon missile launched by the KSMA-1 Sky Horse A2 armored vehicle had grazed his tail. He calmed his racing mind and turned his chopper towards the KSMA-1 armored vehicle that attacked him. When the arms man sitting behind Pilot Hiro was about the launch the Hellfire missile, a beam of light moved along the lower part of the Apache chopper’s body.

Pew pew pew pew.

Thirty rounds of the 12mm laser beams had flown across the sky and pierced the Apache chopper Yokoshi Hiro was piloting. Both the pilot and the arms man were torn to shreds and died. The chopper lost control and exploded after spinning towards the surface.

Booom.

Within 10 minutes, 16 Apache guardian choppers, which were famous for being the predators of armored forces, were shot down without landing a single shot to the enemy.

Seoul Yongsan-ku B2 bunker (ROK military joint command center)

The U.S army in Japan and the marines were now actively participating in the war between Corea and Japan. Reports of battles started to pour in. The success of the 1st operation of breaking through the defenses at Kyushu came in. Also, a report of the Japanese army defending Kyushu retreating to Honshu came in as well.

The Kyushu occupation was deemed to proceed smoothly while the Honshu occupation would face fierce opposition. A meeting about the 2nd wave of forces landing on Japan was beginning.

“Chairman Kang, sir. How about we have the 6th marine brigade attack the rear of the forces retreating to Honshu? I believe the 2nd marine division would have no trouble in occupying Kyushu in their current state,” General Lee Un-hyung, the commander of the army, gave an opinion.

Chairman Kang Ui-sik glanced towards Lieutenant General Lee Hun-sang, the commander of the marines and the expeditionary force on the screen, and asked him a question.

-Lieutenant General Lee! As commander of the expeditionary force, what do you think?

Chairman Kang Ui-sik knew the status of the war like the back of his hand but always asked for the opinions of the commanders on the field.

-I think it will be fine, sir. Kyushu’s defensive forces consist of reserve forces that were drafted recently and there seems to be no force that can hold back the 2nd marine division. I believe the 6th marine brigade aiding the forces in Honshu would be more effective for our mission.

-Is that so? Very well! Give them the order, lieutenant general. You are the commander after all.

-Yes, sir. Understood.

“Let’s get to the details of the 2nd expeditionary forces!”

When the movements of the 6th marine brigade occupying Kyushu was decided, Chairman Kang signaled towards Lieutenant General Kim Yong-hyun, the operations director, and sat down.

“We will now begin the briefing about the 2nd expeditionary force for Japan.”

As soon as Lieutenant General Kim Yong-hyun finished speaking, a large screen lit up and a map of Japan showed up.

The 15th special forces fighter wing at Sungnam Kyung-gi, Corea

Four of Corea’s first space jets, the Three-toed Crow CFS/A-31SP had finished their final maintenance and were standing by at the underground hangar.

The 15th flight wing was in charge of special missions under the Corean air force. In mid-2019, the flight wing had started construction of an underground hangar, and when construction was finished after a year, they started to store all of their planes underground except for large transporting crafts.

The black and charismatic looking Three-toed Crow jets now had an improved interior arms chamber that was large enough to transport six fully armed soldiers.

Soon, the entrance of the underground pathway connected to the flight wing’s headquarters opened up. The pilots of the jets, crewmen, armed soldiers, and agents in suits entered the hangar.

The fully armed soldiers were the veterans under the 707th special forces brigade. The agents in suits were the NIS foreign intelligence department volunteers. Among them, Agent Park Ki-oong who worked in China and Russia was present.

The special forces and NIS agents had gathered to conduct the most dangerous mission that could not guarantee their survival.

Sixteen soldiers under the 707 special forces brigade and eight NIS agents stood in a line behind the Three-toed Crow jets. These men did not seem anxious, but rather seemed to be full of confidence.

Due to the importance of the mission, the commander of the special forces, Lieutenant General Kang Jung-hyun, had come to send the men off himself and encourage them before the mission started.

“Salute!”

When the special forces and the NIS agents all saluted in unison, Lieutenant General Kang also saluted in response.

“At ease!

The mission tasked to you is more important than any. The fate of the war against America ending early that is also related to the fate of the nation as a whole depends on your actions. However, while I do consider the fate of our nation as a priority, I also believe your lives are important as well. While conducting the mission, keep your safety in mind, and treat your lives as valuable. Come back safely!” Commander Kang Jung-hyun finished his brief statement and shook the hands of each man.

The men responded with serious looks in their eyes and spoke their resolve to complete the mission.

The special forces and the NIS agents all finished saying their farewells and got onboard the space jets. The jets surfaced via the aircraft elevator and lined up at the runway under the guide’s orders. A moment later, the powerful C-PTZ-2000 plasma engines started to heat up and prepared to ignite. The jets soon shot forward along the runway.

The four Three-toed Crow space jets flew into the dark sky with blue flames coming out from their engines.

February 15th, 2021, 05:00 (Russia Standard Time 14th, 23:00)

Russia, Krasnoyarsk, Kansk (the 23rd missile division’s post)

The 23rd missile division under the Russian rocket forces was stationed at Kansk in Krasnoyarsk. It was near the Kan river, and they were 2,800km away from the northern Manchurian state’s western front.

Kansk was not a large city, but it had been elevated into one since 1782 and was a city that had a history. It was in Kansky county and had a population of 1.07 million, but the eastern industrial expansion had caused many people to move. The city was now empty and abandoned.

At the great plains south of the city, dozens of launch vehicles for the 23rd missile division’s RT-2PM Topol (NATO name: sickle) ICBMs (Inter Continental Ballistic Missile) were lined up.

Length: 21.9m

Diameter: 1.9m

Launch weight: 47.2t

Range: 11,500km

Warhead: three 550kt MIRV warheads

“We are launching the missiles. Each vehicle is to input their targets and coordinates!” The 23rd missile division’s commanding vehicle gave the order to launch.

Flaps of the 55 launch vehicles’ launch pads opened up and they all rose to a 90-degree angle.

“All vehicles are to check their coordinates again.”

The vehicle operators all checked their coordinates once again and started to report back to the commander about their status.

“Vehicle 1 input complete!”

“Vehicle 2 input complete!”

“Vehicle 3 input complete...”

When the final vehicle, number 55, had finished reporting in, the commander inputted the code he received from the command headquarters, and the division’s code as well. When he did so, the launch button became active. When each vehicle pressed its launch buttons, the ICBMs would fly towards their targets. They were all ready to launch.

“Starting countdown.”

Wooooooooooosh.

The launch pads of each missile had filled the area with the sounds of rockets. After two explosive noises rang out in the area, the ICBMs started to leave their launch pads and emerge slowly.

Boooooom.

The 21.9m long and 1.9m wide missiles all sprayed white smoke from burning their fuel. Dozens of fireballs started to shoot up into the dark sky. It started to light up from the missiles’ flames.

It only took 10 seconds for the large objects to disappear. Russia’s RT-2PM Topol ICBMs broke through the atmosphere at incredible speeds and started to lean east.
